DevOps Automation Engineer- Manchester
A successful global law firm is looking for a DevOps Automation Engineer for its central Manchester office. Enjoying recent and ongoing transformation and growth in its IT Function, involving the formation of multiple Scrum Teams and a platform for their support, this role will be focused on the development, maintenance and improvement of this support platform.
Main Role Requirements
- Standardising coding practises and developing environment supporting scripts
- Monitoring and minimising outages of the support platform to ensure availability 24/7 and optimum performance.
- Maintaining consistently high standards of development and driving improvements to quality and flow of product development
- The creation of standards and best practice to ensure consistent use of the support platform.
- Reviewing new projects to understand their requirements and ensure integration into the support platform.
- Working closely with the team on developing Infrastructure as code and ensuring Configuration Management practices are followed.
- Contribution to documentation production and configuration, content and layout testing and assisting in software implementation.
- Determining and running test cycles/scripts etc for web apps
- Maintaining a current Toolchain, ensuring seamless, high quality upgrades.

- Previous Experience: Previous experience working in an Agile and DevOps process environment is regarded as a key requirement with understanding of waterfall and agile methodologies.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE - KEY REQUIREMENTS
Due to the infrastructure in place this role will require an individual with significant experience of:
- RedHat/Linux admin
- Programming in Ruby / Powershell / Unix and BASH scripting.
- Solid Release Management using Puppet (or similar) and server side and distributed software management.
- Using toolchains, supporting and developing with the following applications: Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence,Sonar, Eggplant.
- Test cycles/unit tests/test scripts for web applications.
- Puppet \ Chef \ Ansible or VSTS
