This excellent City practice has one of the largest UK tax teams and advises clients on all contentious and non-contentious tax issues.

The market-leading contentious tax team regularly advises its' broad client base (which includes listed companies, foreign owned companies, public sector bodies and institutional investors) on what steps to take to avoid a tax dispute with HMRC arising and also how to secure the most favourable outcome once a dispute does arise.

This is a role for an experienced tax litigator with an excellent understanding of both direct tax and indirect tax issues, HMRC powers, tribunal procedure and other routes to remedy against HMRC (such as High Court restitution and judicial review).

The successful candidate will have gained a good range of experience of tax disputes work at a City firm or large regional practice. You will have experience in running Tax Tribunal proceedings and ideally tax litigation in the High Court and strong knowledge of the HMRC enquiry process and HMRC powers.

Technical excellence as well as commercial awareness is important and you will be comfortable working both as part of a team on large matters as well as handling your own matters with support from colleagues. They would be joining a team that will provide the opportunity to work on major tax matters across the country and cross border.
