Solicitor - Litigation / Insurance & Risk /Marine (NQ - 2 years PQE)

Aberdeen

This is a great opportunity to join a growing team providing a broad range of legal support to a diverse client base.

The Insurance and Risk team represents corporates, insurers and loss adjusters in claims and disputes in the Court of Session, and Sheriff Courts up and down the country. You will be in the marine sector group involved in dealing with the advising on the legal/technical/tactical aspects of defence of personal injury and Health & Safety claims arising from on and offshore incidents. Much of the work will have a marine or oil and gas dimension.

The successful applicant will assist and advise not only insurers but also provide direct assistance to ship owners, oil and gas operators, drillers and other contractors, charterers, cargo owners, crewing agencies, ferry operators, fishing businesses, ports and harbours. There will be health and safety investigations of incidents with MCA, MAIB and AAIB involvement, HSE prosecutions and FAIs.

You will also assist with specialist marine areas of work such as marine collisions, oil spills and vessel arrestment

Requirements:
- Takes responsibility for their own caseload subject to supervision
- Works to understand the department's key clients, the industry they operate in and the challenges they face
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
- Experience within similar practice
