The Role
Corporate solicitor based in the Vistra Bristol office (Templeback), working as part of the global corporate law team to deliver legal services to Vistra clients, as well as other local and international corporate organisations.
Key Responsibilities of the Corporate Solicitor
- Providing corporate legal advice to clients across a range of matters, such as M&A, shareholders agreements, investments, global re-organisations, share incentives and general corporate law
- Working with and directly reporting into the head of corporate law and a senior corporate lawyer to deliver a full range of corporate legal services to clients.
- Able to work autonomously as required, whilst supervising paralegals and other junior lawyers in providing lower value legal services to clients.
- Work closely with international contacts from Vistra overseas offices, law firms and other professionals.
- Leading on marketing and business development initiatives, including meeting with Vistra colleagues based globally and delivering presentations and training to internal and external participants, including travel as required
Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Law degree or equivalent, whether UK or overseas
- Solicitor practising certificate
- Ideally 2-4 years PQE
Corporate Solicitor Candidate Profile
- Excellent commercial skills with the ability to analyse client instructions, understand the issues raised and advise the client accordingly.
- Strong and adaptable communication skills, the ability to work with and advise global Vistra colleagues and management teams of large multinational organisations, through to the owners of small start-up enterprises.
- Able to lead on transactional and advisory corporate legal work, whilst knowing when to ask for supervision, managing and co-ordinating input from other lawyers and specialists Vistra colleagues (e.g. tax and accounting), working with and reporting to senior lawyer and supervising director
- In addition to a sound legal training, a successful candidate should have entrepreneurial flair, an eager can-do attitude and a hunger for developing new business on a national and international level. They must also be adaptable, willing to take on unfamiliar work and develop expertise in new legal areas
