Litigation Officer required for a Maternity cover for a local authority based near Sussex
A local authority based near Sussex are looking for an experienced Litigation Officer/ Lawyer to cover a maternity leave of 7-9 months.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Litigation Officer who has Civil Litigation experience across a range of areas. You undertake routine Civil Litigation work to include preparing and issuing court proceedings for rent arrears, housing litigation and some criminal litigation (prosecution) preparation on behalf of the council. This will include preparing court forms and issuing proceedings, some drafting, completing routine court paperwork, such as Claim Forms, Particulars of Claim, assisting with witness statements, preparing court bundles and liaising with Council Officers. In addition to this, you will advise on and prepare all routine documents related to civil litigation, housing litigation and some simple criminal matters, including possession cases, debt recovery, environmental offences and insolvency cases.
There will also be an opportunity for you to provide general legal support across contentious areas, such as Planning enforcement and assist with legal research when required.

To qualify for the role you must have Litigation experience, including familiarity with issuing court proceedings.
