We are delighted to be exclusively retained by Karro Food Group to recruit an additional Legal Counsel into its in-house legal team based at its Malton headquarters.  

Karro Food Group is a major UK food business, employing c. 5,000 people over 14 sites across the UK and Ireland and generating turnover of £1.2bn. Karro is a leading producer of both fresh and cooked meat products, and, following its recent acquisition of Young’s Seafood, is now one of the UK’s leading multi-protein food businesses. The business supplies to retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers across the UK, as well as export customers globally. This is a key appointment and there really could not be a more exciting time to be joining the legal team.

As number three in a core team of this growing business, you will be reporting directly into the Group General Counsel, Tim Saunders.

Whilst you don’t need to be a commercial contracts specialist, you will need to have a strong background in any of these key areas: Corporate, Litigation, Regulatory, Employment, Commercial and Construction would all be useful.

The team will certainly consider a more junior lawyer but you will need to hit the ground running, so significant experience as a paralegal or similar in a relevant discipline pre-qualification would be useful.

Above all else, attitude and cultural fit is of real importance. This is a close-knit team and you will be working in a busy and sometimes intense environment. You need to be able to demonstrate that you can take the initiative but also that you are a genuine team-player. Having a sense of humour will also hold you in good stead.

The role will involve spending at least one day per week away from Malton supporting Group sites in Grimsby or nearby, and there may be occasional travel further afield to other Group sites within the UK and Ireland, or continental Europe. You will therefore need to be able to drive and have access to a car.
