We are looking to appoint a Legal Advisor on permanent contract to focus on the commercial / property aspects of our international business.

Key accountabilities:

•    Conduct legal research in order to provide sound legal advice and guidance to TWI’s management.         
•    To contribute to the business’ objectives through providing first class legal and commercial advice on the contractual relationships underpinning the company’s business.   
•    Review & develop implement effective corporate governance policies for The Welding Institute and its group companies to facilitate effective, entrepreneurial and prudent management that can deliver the long-term success of the company.  
•    Provide legal advice and guidance on TWI core products (SCP, Collaborative and JIP) including tailored negotiation of large and/or complex projects.    
•    Drafting and negotiating contract and legal agreements to support TWI business with current and new initiatives e.g. NSIRC, PTIPs, Innovation Centres, Joint Ventures.   
•    To implement, commercial, legal and contractual strategies for the business which are consistent with the long term interests of the company.        
•    To highlight any legal or governance risks to the TWI Group, and to seek ways to mitigate risk through innovative solutions.     
•    Conducts themselves in line with TWI’s values of teamwork, innovation, taking responsibility, customer focus, adaptability and respect.

Skills:

•    Demonstrate ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization. 
•    Proven ability to negotiate large and/or complex agreements, excellent proof reading skills and high levels of accuracy in drafting documents.  
•    Excellent people and business management skills with commercial acumen with strong strategic ability to develop business relationships with customers.  
•    Excellent research skills coupled with proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

Qualifications & Experience:

•    Law degree or 5 years’ experience in a corporate legal, governance or commercial team    
•    Previous experience within a Company Secretarial / Corporate Governance team is an advantage but not essential.

Based at our Headquarters in Cambridge; the offered salary is competitive
