General Counsel

Piksel Group is looking for a General Counsel to join the management team and help drive the business through its next stage of development. This is a permanent, full time position based at the UK headquarters in York.

About the Company

For over 15 years some of the world's biggest broadcasters, such as Sky, Liberty Global, and OSN, have trusted Piksel to provide them with the video streaming technology that underpins their online television platforms, supplying the best experience to viewers.

This highly international business has offices in locations including Milan, Malaga, Grenoble and Atlanta. The business operates at the cutting edge of its field, and as General Counsel you will play a key role in the legal and commercial affairs of the business as it moves forward.

Role Description

The General Counsel will provide strategic leadership to drive the sales of technology platforms, offering business critical legal advice across the Piskel Group.

This is a ‘full service’ General Counsel role, incorporating the following:

• Management of budgets and expenditure
• Handling corporate governance matters for all group companies across the globe
• Advising the Board of Directors and senior management, giving legal input into a variety of commercial issues
• Reviewing and negotiating all types of commercial contracts, in particular large scale vendor agreements

The scope of the role is broad - as well as the commercial contracts elements, there will be other aspects such as employment, data protection, privacy, information security, and intellectual property which will require your expertise.

The Candidate

To be successful in this General Counsel role, you will have:

• Experience as an in house Commercial Lawyer
• An interest in the commercial aspects of deals, not just the legal implications
• The ability to offer genuine commercial insight
• Some familiarity with technology sectors (ideally)
• Experience managing a small team
• Experience of implementing strategic plans and driving change
• The confidence to work in a dynamic and fast-moving business
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
