This paralegal position is with the Regulatory and Compliance Team. It involves liaising regularly and directly with my clients HQ in Korea and my client subsidiaries throughout Europe (the "Subsidiaries") on all major Europeanwide

projects, initiatives, and product and service development.

Description

The following are examples of the key areas of work the paralegal will be involved in:

Data Protection - an area of unprecedented importance to my client as it expands into new

technologies, such as smart TVs, wearables and smart homes in a landscape of ongoing substantial

regulatory change.

  • Day to day data protection advice - advising HQ and EO business teams on the development of all products, services and apps from a privacy perspective; developing and implementing policies and guidelines on all my client's data processing activities in line with data protection laws.
  • General Data Protection Regulation Compliance -
  • Advising on General Data Protection Regulation
  • Implementation of new and updated legal and business processes and procedures to
  • ensure my client's compliance with GDPR.
  • Working with EO Legal to effectively manage ongoing compliance with GDPR and
  • liaising with Data Protection Office where appropriate
  • Negotiating Data Protection Agreements with third parties and managing database of
  • the same.
  • Liaising with the business to complete legitimate interest assessments.
  • Attending meetings with key stakeholders and external advisers, participating and
  • recording minutes of the discussions.
  • Assisting with ad hoc technology projects.
  • Reporting to Head of Department, Project Manager and HQ, where necessary.
  • Research on queries received from HQ and the business and drafting notes of
  • preliminary advice and responses.

Compliance - supporting both EO and the Subsidiaries with compliance matters including:

  • Compliance Training for new starters and for all employees at regular intervals;
  • Ensuring compliance with internal company policies; and
  • Dealing with ad hoc compliance related requests including ABC approvals
  • European-wide Projects - an area of importance as EO is constantly developing products, services,
  • initiatives and projects consistently across Europe.
  • Researching ongoing developments in Data Protection and also the forthcoming E-Privacy
  • Regulation and preparing legal updates on the same; and
  • Liaising with the Subsidiaries' legal teams to facilitate local law reviews of HQ and EO
  • proposals. Collating and delivering prompt and practical advice to HQ and EO teams.

General Admin

  • Proactively carrying out the following tasks alongside the Legal Support Manager: -
  • Updating the department contact list as well as the European Legal team.
  • Managing the notice board to ensure all relevant information is kept up to date.
  • Monitoring and ordering the stationery requirements for the team.
  • Research requests from HQ and the business to provide preliminary European position for the
  • request in advance of sending to the subsidiaries for their feedback.
  • Reviewing and collating Subsidiary feedback to HQ and EO requests for information as requested.
  • SELMS+ Contract Management - operational and legal support.

Profile

Key Competencies/Characteristics:

  • A self-starter with a proactive approach to work;
  • Attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly;
  • Enthusiasm to be able to learn quickly;
  • A team player;
  • Highly literate in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Preferably have Data Protection experience;
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Educational Experience/interest:
  • Strong academics;
  • Law degree or presently studying law/a related subject;
  • Interest in technology and/or business.
