THE FIRM

A major UK law firm whose Financial Regulation Team is one of largest in the UK with a mixture of lawyers and compliance professionals.

The Financial Markets team advises on the full range of issues affecting financial services clients including: the Financial Services and Markets Act (FSMA), the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Handbooks of Rules and Guidance and related European legislation including the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) and the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).

The Financial Markets team aims to provide clients with technical advice that is both commercial and practical.

The team prides itself as being high performing and cohesive whilst at the same time adopting the firm's flexible working ethos with a number of team members regularly working from home.

THE ROLE

The team is now looking for a junior lawyer with 6 months - 4pqe to join the Financial Markets Team.

You will work closely with the financial markets partners to grow the work and profile of this part of the practice.

You will have a good grounding and all round knowledge of the financial regulatory regime including in relation to change in control, the FCA's conduct of business rules, Part 4A authorisations and financial promotions.

In addition, the team would expect general familiarity with the regulatory challenges facing one or more of the following areas: investment banks, brokers, funds and/or platforms.

Knowledge / experience in a number of the following areas: investment platforms, CRD IV, banking structural reforms, the AIFMD, the Senior Managers Regime and/or market abuse useful but not essential.

Candidates with other skills would also be considered, provided they have a strong interest in and current awareness of financial regulation and are interested in developing as a regulatory lawyer.

The firm is known for providing Associates with early levels of responsibility within a supportive and stretching environment.

You will have at least six months experience in a financial regulation team, whether during your training contract or post qualification but whatever your level, you'll be expected to play a full role in the Team, including involvement in business development and regular client contact.
