Description

The key responsibilities for the in house role will include

• To provide impartial, accessible and commercial legal advice in relation to a variety of third party contracts transactions and proposals affecting the client.
• To advise Senior Managers and the Executive, with the standard of provision to be credibly benchmark-able against the leading law firms (including negotiation and agreement of contracts, where appropriate).
• To deputise for line manager, as and when required, to preserve the continuity of advice and support to the Senior Management and Executive community in relation to transactions, proposals and disputes.
• To draft lengthy, complex and, often, heavily negotiated transaction documents frequently under the pressure of time to ensure commercial objectives are effectively converted to enforceable contractual rights and transaction risk is contained at acceptable (or lower) levels.
• To demonstrate a clear understanding of business objectives and the relevant law/legal environment to pro-actively advise the Senior Management teams of key legal developments and recommendations as to changes in commercial behaviour and practice that should be adopted to mitigate legal risk.

Profile

• Specialist knowledge, capability and experience in commercial contracts, but also the ability to think broadly across all specialist areas across the Legal team
• Ability to contribute constructively as a member of and, on occasions, as the leader of project teams relative to highly technical and, in certain cases, high profile and high value matters.
• A well-developed sense of strategic/commercial drivers affecting the majority of transactions/disputes encountered.
• Articulate and persuasive communication skills; an ability to adapt communication style whilst retaining professionalism and effectiveness
• Highly motivated individual committed to the development of the role, the team, the department and the business
• Financial services experience would be an advantage but not essential.

The salary will be commensurate with the level of PQE
