Dispute Resolution Lawyer – openings at Associate and Counsel level - Global offshore law firm – British Virgin Islands (BVI)

DESCRIPTION:  

This well-known offshore law firm is undergoing a period of expansion in the BVI and it is looking for two commercial litigation / dispute resolution lawyers with experience of high-value contentious work. This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a strong brand with a good market profile but who is equally keen to make their own mark and really have an impact on the practice. The work will be cross-border by nature and quite varied, spanning commercial/contract disputes, financial services litigation and contentious insolvency. You will be client facing from the outset and will be encouraged to build your network of contacts making this ideal for an ambitious lawyer with a focus on career progression.

CRITERIA:           

Admitted in England & Wales you will have experience of high-value contentious work. For the Associate level role, a minimum of 1 year’ pqe is essential although more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. A Counsel level role is likely to require at least 7+ years’ experience, some of which will be in the offshore sector (ideally but not essentially in BVI).

LOCATION:        

For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain forested interior surrounded by picture postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving or lolling on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.

SALARY:              

Competitive salary dependent on experience, low tax (c.8%), benefits, relocation
