Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial contracts role - 3yrs PQE+
General commercial role (including supply of services agreements, partnership, IP and procurement)

Client Details

Our client is a research institue offering consultancy services to clients operating in the built environment.

Description

Day to day duties will include:

  • Drafting, negotiating and amending a range of legal contracts including, supply of services agreements, consultancy agreements, confidentiality agreements and more.
  • Reviewing and advising on public and private sector tenders and their terms and conditions.
  • Ensuring that businesses' standard terms and conditions and other templates are kept up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Advising business colleagues, management and stakeholders on a range of legal issues arising from the business' commercial and research activities.
  • Raise, report and mitigate any potential or actual legal risks.
  • Engage with and manage external counsel where required.
  • Deputise as required for the Group Company Secretary on corporate and legal matters.
  • Supervision of a junior colleague who is to begin the process of qualifying as a solicitor.
  • Maintain records, files and contracts on the legal team case management system.
  • When required, delivery of training to colleagues on areas of law and legal process.

Profile

The successful candidate is likely to:

  • be an England and Wales-qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 3 years PQE, although this is a Senior Legal counsel position and there is a broad range of salary on offer which will be paid comensurate to the successful candidate's PQE and experience.
  • have at least 3 years' experience working in corporate/commercial law (preferably in an In-House environment).

Desirable but not a pre-requisite:

  • Previous experience working in research and development.
  • Previous experience working in the built environment sector.
  • Previous experience working in or knowledge of assurance disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) matters including IPR arising from research and trademark/certification marks.
  • Knowledge of State Aid law.
