NEW ROLE: IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL NQ+

KARRO FOOD GROUP & YOUNG’S SEAFOOD

MALTON, NORTH YORKSHIRE

Full-time or part-time job share opportunities

Competitive salary plus car allowance & benefits

We are delighted to be working with Karro Food Group on the further expansion of its in-house legal team based at its Malton headquarters. Having recently recruited a Legal Counsel, the Legal team is now looking to either recruit an additional lawyer on a full-time basis or to recruit two part-time lawyers on a job share basis.

Karro Food Group is a major UK food business, employing c. 5,000 people over 14 sites across the UK and Ireland and generating turnover of £1.2bn. Karro is a leading producer of both fresh and cooked meat products, and, following its recent acquisition of Young’s Seafood, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of fish, is now one of the UK’s leading multi-protein food businesses. The business supplies to retail, foodservice and manufacturing customers across the UK, as well as export customers globally.

Joining a team of three lawyers, you will be reporting directly into the Group General Counsel, Tim Saunders.

Whilst you don’t need to be a commercial contracts specialist, you will need to have a strong background in one of these key areas: Employment, Construction, Corporate, Regulatory or Commercial. Employment and Construction lawyers are of particular interest and would contribute nicely to the team dynamic.

The team will consider a more junior lawyer but you will need to hit the ground running, so significant experience as a paralegal or similar in a relevant discipline pre-qualification would be useful.

Above all else, attitude and cultural fit is key. This is a close-knit team and you will be working in a busy and sometimes intense environment. You need to be able to demonstrate that you can take the initiative but also that you are a genuine team-player. Having a sense of humour will also hold you in very good stead.

The role will involve around one day per week away  from Malton supporting Group sites in Grimsby or nearby, and there may be occasional travel further afield to other Group sites within the UK and Ireland, or continental Europe. You will therefore need to be able to drive and have access to a car.

Being exposed to the widest variety of interesting work for one of the largest names in the industry and at a critical time in its growth, you can expect to gain the most fantastic experience.
