Corporate Counsel

A global healthcare company is seeking an interim Corporate Counsel to cover a period of maternity leave. This role is based in Birmingham, and is likely to be for around 8 months.

This organisation is a leading healthcare company which partners with hospitals and NHS trusts to provide care to over 800,000 patients every year. They work closely with the NHS to improve healthcare performance across the UK. They are located in central Birmingham with easy access by train.

Role Description

Working within an established in-house legal team of five, the Corporate Counsel will report directly to the AVP Legal Services (Head of Legal).

Key Responsibilities of the Corporate Counsel will include:

• Providing general legal support with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including vendor contracts between the business and its suppliers
• Providing legal guidance on compliance with various laws and regulations, including the Data Protection Act 2018, the GDPR, the Bribery Act and the Competition Act
• Support with the drafting of relevant company policies

Candidate Profile

The business is looking for a Legal Counsel with the following attributes:

• 1-4 years’ PQE (although individuals with more will be considered)
• Experience gained in commercial/corporate/litigation or Banking
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
• The desire to further their commercial career and develop within a global and innovative organisation
• Availability to start in October
