Legal Counsel

A market-leading international business is seeking a senior level Legal Counsel for their Head Office in Bedfordshire. Offered full-time on a permanent basis, the In-House Counsel role sits within an established legal department and has significant autonomy and responsibility across the business, both in the UK and overseas.

Your new employer

The In-House Counsel will join a specialist provider of services to both business and consumer clients in the automotive sector. It has a strong presence in the UK and internationally, undergoing a period of rapid growth and expansion in recent years, with further growth and acquisition expected.

Responsibilities of your new role

Reporting into the General Counsel and operating in a collegiate working environment, the Legal Counsel will:

• Be given autonomy and responsibility to handle their own legal work and business relationships
• Have team management responsibilities
• Receive support and guidance from the existing team
• Work with all departments on key projects
• Advise board members in the UK as well as sales and commercial teams further afield in Europe and the Middle-East

Candidate profile

The legal department is highly regarded within the company and it is respected for its breadth of commercial acumen, sound legal knowledge and pragmatic approach. To be successful in their application, Legal Counsel candidates must demonstrate:

• 5+ years of PQE (negotiable)
• Confidence working autonomously and keen to assume responsibility
• Willingness and ability to work as part of a team
• A down to earth approach, a good sense of humour and a can-do attitude
• Commercial contracts experience
• Some in-house experience is advantageous but not essential
