£65,000 Dependent of Experience + Benefits 

London Based.

This in house counsel role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced corporate commercial lawyer to lead Client Earth’s Climate Programme. The Head of Climate role is a key position within the organisation and the post holder will play a central role in delivering Client Earth’s world-leading innovative legal strategies.

The Head of Climate position is offered on a full time, permanent basis, based in London but can also be based in Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid or Warsaw.

This senior in house counsel position reports to the Chief Counsel and is responsible for:

• Leading and managing a team of lawyers and as applicable
• Other programme staff working on climate accountability and climate finance related advocacy
• Litigation
• Policy

The in house counsel post holder will be part of the Programme Management Group (PMG) and will work closely with the Global Programmes Counsel, Director of Litigation, and the Head of Energy as well as other programme and regional heads. The Climate Accountability Lead and Climate Finance Lead both report to the Head of Climate.

Role requirements of the in house counsel: 

The successful Corporate Commercial Lawyer will:

• have sound knowledge and expertise relevant to corporate and finance law, including an understanding regarding its intersection with climate-related financial risks
• possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• be able to engage with and persuade in multiple settings a range of internal and external audiences.
• have a demonstrable track record of networking, relationship development and engagement with a wide variety of external stakeholders 
• have the ability to successfully lead, manage and build a team through motivating and enabling others.
