Your new company
Your new team is a transactional Banking & Finance team which works on the full range of financing transactions ranging from corporate lending, leveraged finance and real estate finance to junior and mezzanine debt. They have a balanced practice and act equally for corporates, real estate developers, private equity funds, lending banks and alternative lenders. They sit on the bank panel for most of the UK commercial lending banks and have a particular specialism in leveraged and acquisition finance, private equity, real estate development and investment finance, Housebuilders, Hotels and Healthcare and work across all of the group industry sector groups.
Your new role
I am seeking a Banking Solicitor (3 PQE +) or an Associate to join my clients busy banking team in the firms Reading office. A substantial part of the role will involve assisting on a broad range of syndicated, bilateral and club financings including real estate finance, leveraged buyouts, asset based lending and general corporate lending (for both lenders, borrowers and PE funds).
Ideally you will have experience of acting for real estate finance lenders including domestic UK and cross-border deals. You will be given the opportunity to develop existing client relationships with the support to help you develop your experience and career. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing Reading team and you will work closely with a Partner in Reading as well as the Partners in our other offices including our London office.
You will also work closely with other specialist teams including in particular our Real Estate and Corporate teams role will involve working on transactional banking matters acting for bank and other lenders as well as our borrower, corporate and private equity clients. You will work in a team and be responsible for drafting (or reviewing) and negotiating all primary documents (loan agreements, security documents and intercreditor agreements) and managing the transactions to a successful completion.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will already have experience of all of the areas of finance identified above together with excellent drafting, transaction management and people management skills. My client is also looking for someone who already has expertise in acting for a number of lenders and borrowers on commercial real estate transactions.
They are expecting the successful candidate to have technical knowledge commensurate with their level of PQE. It is important that the candidate enjoys developing a working relationship with their client base as well as working together with a wider team. They expect that the candidate will be capable of building their own client relationships over time.
The successful candidate would need previous experience in Corporate, Real Estate and General Finance. In addition, they will be able to interact effectively with colleagues and clients at every level. They will also demonstrate the following attributes:
