Associate Legal Counsel

Swindon

£40,000-£60,000 DOE + Extensive Benefits

Hexagon PPM are looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to join their Swindon team. This role supports the Regional Divisional Counsel with the commercial caseload in the EMEA Region, which includes the ongoing maintenance of the global data protection compliance programme.

This role would suit a junior solicitor or legal counsel looking for the next step in their career. As the successful applicant you will be involved in the drafting of customer commercial contracts, tenders, bid responses & customer negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively able to advise the business on commercial contracts
  • Protect the organisation’s legal interests
  • Provide general legal advice, and prepare and negotiate various types of legal agreements on behalf of the business as required
  • Keep abreast of legal developments affecting the organisation
  • Implement, support and maintain the organisation’s roll out of the global data protection compliance programme
  • Provide pragmatic, quality and timely ad hoc advice to all areas of the organisation to ensure all new initiatives comply with applicable data privacy legislation as that arises
  • Ability to travel internationally from time to time as required by the business

Qualifications

The Successful Applicant requires:

  • Qualified solicitor specialising in commercial law and/or data protection and/or compliance (preferably under the laws of England and Wales), however, applications from any level of post qualification experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work semi-autonomously in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience of providing legal advice on different types of commercial contracts, intellectual property and data protection issues.

 It would prove advantageous if the Successful Applicant had:

  • previous experience of working in a fast-paced role;
  • a willingness to learn and understand applicable US export control laws, and applicable laws as they relate to a global business and industry best practices.
  • experience of providing compliance advice and operational compliance matters.
