Locum Head of Legal

Locum Head of Legal – £500 to £600 per day – West Midlands

Venn Group's specialist legal team are excited to be recruiting for a Locum Head of Legal for a Local Authority based in the West Midlands.

The team are looking for someone to carry out the role for an initial period of 6 months and will consider candidates on a 4 or 5 day (30-37 hours) per week basis.

The purpose of the role is to act as Senior Legal Advisor to the council, managing a large and complex service area to meet identified customer and community needs in the most efficient way.

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out various responsibilities including:

• Leading on the development and delivery of the legal service plan and reviewing performance thereafter
• Providing general and legal advice on local government administration, maladministration, impropriety and probity issues
• Acting as the Deputy Monitoring Officer and undertaking the duties delegated to that role under the council's constitution
• Supporting councillors on the ethical framework applicable to them and supporting the statutory Standards Committee
• Leading on advising at full council meetings, cabinet and other councillor forums

A highly attractive rate of between £500 and £600 per day (dependent upon experience) is offered.
