Risk & Compliance Lawyer

Exciting new opportunity for a Risk & Compliance Lawyer to join the London office of a modern and progressive international law firm. This firm prides itself on its supportive, collegiate and high performing workplace culture. Working as part of a busy Risk & Compliance team, the Risk & Compliance Lawyer will provide the partnership with a broad spectrum of compliance related advice. Key responsibilities for the Risk & Compliance Lawyer will include:

• Policy drafting, updating and management
• Providing guidance to Partners, Associates and business support teams regarding key legal and regulatory risk matters such as engagement letters, information barriers, anti-money laundering, data protection, prevention of tax evasion, disclosure regimes, anti-bribery and corruption, insider registers, non-disclosure agreements and escrow arrangements
• Management of firm and individual lawyer SRA accounts and records
• Preparation and submission of SRA bulk renewal application
• Participation in periodic global calls (for example GDPR, AML)
• Participation in responses to client audits
• Participation in routine SRA communications/audits
• Identification of new or changing regulatory/legal issues affecting the firm;
• Supporting the firm's Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA), as necessary
• Review of London office contracts
• Preparation and submission of National Crime Agency filings

The ideal candidate for the Risk & Compliance Lawyer role will be a qualified lawyer with previous compliance experience from a law firm or other professional services firm. Data protection expertise would also be a particular advantage. You must have a good understanding of the risk management landscape, and be a strong team player.
