Corporate Paralegal - Hong Kong
My US law firm client are looking for an experienced, well-organised and independent paralegal to provide support to the fee-earners in the Corporate & Securities team. A flexible attitude to overtime will be required with this position.
Job Description
Summary of duties
The paralegal will work with colleagues at all levels. The main duties can be summarised as, but not limited to:
- Assisting lawyers in cross-border M&A, capital markets transactions and IPOs.
- Preparing corporate documents, including but not limited to articles of association, template agreements, resolutions, announcements and circulars.
- Conducting due diligence and preparing due diligence reports, and other types of legal reports and notes.
- Conducting basic researches on corporate and capital markets related matters.
- Translating legal documents (Chinese to English and vice versa), including but not limited to contracts, legal opinions, emails and meeting notes.
- Liaising with clients, intermediaries and other regulatory bodies.
- Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the department, office and Firm.
Plus any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
Key skills
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (both written and oral)
- Ability to read and write simplified and traditional Chinese and speak both Putonghua and Cantonese is a plus.
- Received higher legal education in a common law country.
- Ability to work directly with partners, associates, counsel and clients.
- Ability to engage Firm resources in the completion of large projects.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Superior proofreading and research skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to multi-task, to manage time effectively and to prioritize assignments.
- Discretion and the ability to work with confidential information.
Education and experience
- Degree qualified (2 and above); Law degree or LPC.
- A minimum of 12 months' paralegal experience gained at another US or UK law firm.
