This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Paralegal to become Secretary for an established Membership Association headquartered in the City of London.

The Company

This well long-established and well-respected Association provides rules, regulations, and contract terms for the proper conduct of the international trade of goods that they represent.

This Membership Association provides a platform for the meetings, hearings and social gatherings of its members. From the meetings, the framing of new and developing rules and regulations for the contract terms of trade are established to meet the changing nature of the industry.

They also provide a well-respected, high-quality arbitration service for dispute resolution for their industry as a whole - members or non-members.

The Role

This Association requires a Secretary, reporting to the Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the day to day management of the Association.

This role will be to manage the office and staff, maintain and amend the membership of the Association. Help organise, attend, and represent the association at hearings, meetings, and finance committees, and as a result; maintain and develop the rules and regulations of the committee to the contract terms.

You will also be required to have an understanding of the dispute resolution/litigation process, often outsourcing matters to law firms in the City of London and appointing tribunals and legal advisors, often attending the arbitration hearings.

You will prepare annual reports for the Association, liaising with auditors and other general duties will be required such as maintaining the website make presentations at Association seminars and at Members in-house training in the UK and occasionally overseas (Dubai once a year).

Requirements

  • You must have a background in Litigation/Dispute Resolution
  • You must be proactive, enthusiastic and comfortable working as part of a small team in the London office
  • You must be a social individual who enjoys meeting and maintaining relationships with the members of the Association
