Commercial Contracts Lawyer Advert

LAW Absolute is currently recruiting to a permanent Commercial Contracts and EU Procurement Lawyer position with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

The London Borough of Barking & Dagenham has spent the last few years going through an ambitious transformation programme in order to build a council that is capable of delivering real change for the community. Whilst this change has resulted in the council winning the LGC Driving Growth award and the LGC Entrepreneurial Council of the Year 2019 award, they are looking to recruit an ambitious and proactive Commercial Contracts Lawyer who can help them take things further.

About the position

Contracts & EU Procurement Lawyers within the local authority are expected to undertake the following duties:

•             Provide advice and have conduct of legal files relating to contracts, procurement and information matters

•             To handle, draft and negotiate on commercial contracts to include, complex construction contracts and service contracts

•             Advise on contract related governance issues

•             Advise senior officers within the council

•             Advise on procurement matters

The successful candidate will be required to pick up a caseload from the outset; therefore it is important you have previous experience carrying a full caseload with minimal supervision. Candidates from both the public and private sector with relevant experience are encouraged to apply for this position although EU procurement experience is essential.

The role will be based in the councils London office which offers excellent transport links. Due to the current Covid 19 situation, the successful candidate will start the role on a remote working basis as all staff will be working from home unil October.

About you

The successful candidate will not only have previous commercial contracts experience but will also be ambitious, driven by delivering a high quality service and be able to work under pressure. Experience advising on EU procurement matters is essential. Candidates applying for the role must hold a current practising certificate.

Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide. However we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfil the role.

At LAW Absolute we endeavour to respond to all applications within 48 hours. However due to the volume of applications we receive we may not be able to respond to every candidate individually.

If you have not heard from us within a 48 hour timeframe your application has not been successful and your details have not been retained. LAW Absolute acts as an employment business for temporary recruitment and as an employment agency for fixed term contract and permanent recruitment.
