THE ROLE:
This is a full-time vacancy for a Construction Solicitor ideally with a minimum of 4 years PQE to join this highly regarded team based in Essex. Your role will be to lead the next stage of development. You will be supported by a Partner and the other members of the multidisciplinary team. The team plans include substantial growth over the next 3 years and this is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in that development. They have many ideas as to how to achieve this development, but you should also have your own ideas for how to achieve this growth. Daily tasks will include advising clients on construction documentation, including contracts, sub-contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and bonds. This includes advising on many different standard forms such as JCT and NEC, together with bespoke documentation. You will advise clients on all types of construction disputes, including payment issues, extensions of time, loss and expense claims, defects, professional negligence and insurance claims. Cases are run in adjudications, the TCC, County Court and arbitration. The role may also include advising on other contractual and commercial disputes relating to construction clients. Clients include local authorities and educational establishments. They also act for developers, main contractors and specialist subcontractors. A lot of the work is on commercial buildings and blocks of apartments. They also has expertise in environmental and energy work which could be developed.

THE TEAM:
The team is multidisciplinary involved dispute resolution, commercial property, employment, development, environmental and energy expertise. You would initially join the highly driven South Essex Dispute Resolution team which includes construction litigators, however a major part of your role will be non-contentious construction advice.

CONSTRUCTION SOLICITOR:
The successful solicitor will have proven experience (ideally a minimum of 4 years PQE) in handling a caseload, covering both non-contentious and contentious construction work. You will have experience of all the major standard forms of contract, as well as bespoke construction documentation and experience of representing clients in adjudication and the Technology and Construction Court. It is important for you to have the ability to deliver succinct high-quality advice, have excellent client and team communication skills, drafting and negotiation skills and a desire to play a leading role in the future development of the team. You will need to use your own initiative and provide good commercial advice. There is plenty of scope to progress your career in this role. Clean driving license, flexible enough to work outside normal office hours if required and a capacity for marketing and business development.
