“To support the Head of Legal for the execution (as directed) with all legal matters across the range of investment businesses, including without limitation, investor transactional work, commercial contracts in the UK and overseas, financial services regulatory work and, investor/ class action litigation. Applicants must have experience supporting clients within financial services previously”.
Role Deliverables
- To be responsible for assisting the Head of Legal on all legal matters including liaison with external legal advisors.
- To identify the impact of legislation and court precedent on business and set presidents and supporting documentation when no president in place.
- To support investor/ class action litigation cases as required.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative regulations imposed by appropriate bodies for trading.
- Work with the Head of Legal in reviewing and negotiating all types of agreements including, commercial contracts, capital markets contracts and investment agreements.
- To assist with statutory requirements under company law and for returns and documents requiring sealing, insurances, and registration of shares.
- Meet with management of business areas, finance, operations and technology to assist in the establishment of legal risk management and the support of trading investments and commercial matters.
- Provide an ad hoc project service to the President on legal issues and activities in line with the company's requirements.
Skills & Experience
- 3-7 years post-qualification (PQE) experience working in a City Law firm (Magic Circle or White Shoe firm) and ideally a minimum of one year in-house experience in a large buy or sell side City firm.
- Knowledge and experience of practising law within financial services and knowledge and experience in fund management or asset allocation
- Working knowledge of Prime Brokerage and the encompassing operations surrounding it.
- Expert knowledge of the legislative matters and legal concepts within financial services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to gain credibility with senior management and external parties.
- A methodical decision making process with the ability to plan over a strategic time frame and the capability to analyse and solve complex situations
