Locum SEN Lawyer

Locum Special Education Needs (SEN) Lawyer - £280 – £320/day – East Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are recruiting a Locum Special Education Needs (SEN) Lawyer to join a dynamic Local Authority in the East Midlands. This contract is offered for an initial period of 3 months, there is the possibility for this to be extended. This role will be worked remotely for the foreseeable future but there may be an expectation of some office working in the future.

The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive possessing previous Education and specifically Special Education Needs (SEN) experience gained working within Local Government.

Duties may include:

• Conducting SEN and SENDIST work
• Providing legal advice and assistance to client local authorities in relation to parental appeals to the First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability)
• Drafting the local authority’s submissions
• Instructing expert witnesses and counsel
• Corresponding with both the Tribunal and appellant parents or their representatives
• Providing ad hoc legal advice to client education officers

An attractive rate of between £280 – 320/day hour umbrella is offered dependant on experience and the client will consider both part-time and full-time applications.
