THE COMPANY

Our client is one of the most successful in its sector in the UK, with its award winning and market leading products to be found in every high street. They have experienced real business growth over the past few years, expanding into new international markets and increasing their turnover and profits substantially, despite the current market conditions. With a significant expansion plan over the next five years through both organic growth as well as corporate acquisitions, they are looking to recruit a commercially minded corporate solicitor to join the established legal team.

We are helping them to recruit a lawyer with a commercial contracts focus to join their highly-regarded internal legal team. You will work very closely with all areas of the business, including senior executives, and will advise on strategic issues of key projects as well as providing legal advice. You will be part of a very experienced and capable legal team able to provide support and development wherever required.

THE ROLE

This is a diverse and interesting role where you will offer legal and commercial support to the business on a range of contractual, property, litigation and employment work. Key responsibilities will include:
- The review and negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts in multiple jurisdictions, including: sales agreements with distributors and retailers; high value supplier agreements with manufacturers and other key suppliers; various agreements relating to digital services, online marketing and social media programmes;

- Drafting and negotiation of IP licences and R&D/collaboration/development agreements, supporting the development of new products and technologies;

- Regulatory compliance work including data protection, anti-bribery and corruption, competition law and product safety.

ABOUT YOU

You'll need to be a qualified solicitor or possess strong equivalent commercial contracts experience with excellent drafting skills. You'll need to work well as part of a team in a fast-moving, pressured environment, including working closely with non-legal colleagues throughout the business. You'll also have the ability to quickly understand the commercial drivers of the business and ensure that advice is always appropriately commercial and pragmatic. You'll also be down-to-earth, with the ability to form strong relationships with people at all levels of the business. The ability to clearly communicate legal issues/risks to non-lawyers is essential.
