Crown Counsel (Civil)

St Helena Island, South Atlantic

2 years FTC commencing Early 2021

£40k pa, taxable in St Helena

A tax free International Supplement will also apply (ranging £15,800 – £22,100 per annum)

 

A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK.

You will have conduct of civil litigation on behalf of the Attorney General in the Magistrate’s Court, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. This will include preparing and presenting cases in court from the pre-action stage to appeal.

You will regularly advise the various Directorates of the St Helena Government on a wide range of matters including but not limited to employment, clinical negligence, personal injury, general contractual disputes and administrative law proceedings.

You may also become involved in other matters as directed by the Attorney General or Solicitor General.

As a substantially experienced UK or Commonwealth qualified barrister or solicitor you will have proven advocacy experience, an in-depth understanding of civil procedure, a strong understanding of civil litigation and experience in running your own caseload.
