Salary £19,340 -£26,917

We have exciting opportunities for lawyers with a can do attitude to join Dorset Council's busy legal team. This part-time role is in a small supportive team that advises on a range of contracts and other agreements, as well as general commercial, procurement and governance issues.

You will advise on a range of commercial and governance issues, and deal with all types of contracts and collaborative working arrangements. You will have a varied and interesting caseload potentially including ICT, waste, engineering and construction contracts and advise on issues such as state aid, grant funding, trading and procurement.

You will be an experienced contracts lawyer, preferably with experience of working for a local authority. Knowledge of ICT, waste, engineering and construction contracts is desirable. You will enjoy being part of a team but be able to manage your own caseload with minimum supervision.

Are you looking for a flexible approach to work? Our aim is to allow employees a great work-life-balance and we would be open to discussing this with you.

This is a unique opportunity to join a brand new council in Dorset - home to the spectacular Jurassic Coast and thriving market towns and villages with a strong sense of community and identity.

On 1 April 2019, five district and borough councils and the county council were replaced by the new Dorset Council which will deliver more efficient, accessible and modern public services.

Dorset Council provides a framework to explain the behaviours expected from everyone who works, or volunteers for Dorset Council regardless of their role or grade within the organisation, find more information about this on our website. The behaviours will form part of the selection process, where you will be asked to evidence when you have demonstrated them.
