This is an exclusively retained instruction. Our Client is looking for a mid-Senior level lawyer with Commercial Property, General Commercial matters, Financing (PPP/PFI) and/or Real Estate Finance to join their organisation based in London.

Client Details

Our Client is an established property infrastructure business offering development and management services. They operational sites through England and Scotland.

Description

Providing legal support for general corporate and compliance matters, the successful candidate will report to the board on legal matters arising, including litigation up to the point of issue.

The day-to-day responsibilities with this role include but are not limited to interpreting, evaluating and advising on:

  • project documentation, including leases, concession agreements, project arrangements and facilities management contracts
  • design & build contracts, including contractor security packages
  • financing and equity arrangements, ensuring compliance with the terms of funding documentation (PPP/PFI)

Please note that there is a panel law firm at the organisation's disposal, but the degree to which that resource is utilised will depend on time constraints of the successful candidate, their background as well as their experience. As with a large proportion of in house hires this is partly an exercise in managing external legal counsel (and reducing external legal spend) and partly undertaking working in house to ensure the efficient / expedient running of the business.

Profile

The successful candidate is likely to be a UK Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of post qualification experience. Although this is a relatively senior role requiring a certain level of autonomy, this is not an executive level post and candidates should be mindful of this fact on making their application.

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Demonstrable experience and a working understanding of project finance as well as understanding of technical, legal,
  • Financial and insurance due diligence processes.

They will have expertise in negotiating relevant commercial documentation on projects, such as higher education projects or alternatively PFI / PPP.

Experience working within an in house environment with contractors, guarantors, bondsmen, FM providers, funders, shareholders through to consultants will be looked upon favourably as it reflects the external relationships on offer with the role.
