Your new company
A global marine supply chain, logistics and management business in London with operations in all major hubs and over 3,000 employees. The business has a rich history spanning over 150 years, with clear core values and an acquisitive strategy. The company's London staff will be working from home at least until the Spring.

Your new role
A newly created Senior Counsel position reporting into the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary, as part of a small but indispensable legal function. The successful applicant will have sustained interaction with senior decision-makers and the Board, advising on all manner of corporate matters, including acquisitions, joint ventures (including extricating) and assessing the group's structural organisation and efficiency. Working closely with stakeholders including the finance, tax and HR teams, you will take ownership of internal structural matters and key acquisitions, while also looking international company secretarial matters. You will manage a junior in the team, who will largely be focused on company secretarial and governance matters. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who eventually wishes to take the step up to General Counsel.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a private practice trained corporate focused lawyer, with at least 7 years' PQE (as a guide only) and training in either the UK or another major common law jurisdiction. You will have an excellent academic record and a proven track record of working on varied corporate advisory, transactional and company secretarial work. You will have both the ability and willingness to take proactive ownership of your workload in an autonomous role. Any experience within the heavier industries in-house will be advantageous though not essential.

What you'll get in return
Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will get regular exposure to strategic matters, while interacting regularly with key decision-makers. With an excellent quality of work and people management responsibility, this role will be a great step for someone who harbours ambition at General Counsel level. Ultimately, you will be rewarded with an exceptional salary and package (including car allowance and bonus targets), alongside post-Covid flexible working options.
