To provide litigation advice /support on operational & policy matters across to key stakeholders, Executive Directors, CEO and the Board.

Description

The responsibilities with this role include, but are not limited to:

  • providing high quality, consistent, timely, commercial and pragmatic legal advice on litigation issues and legal risks over a wide range of subjects with a focus on criminal matters, including fraud and other complex criminal cases;
  • identify issues concerning litigation which may be of strategic significance, provide advice on those issues as required;
  • directing and supporting a varied criminal caseload, including complex, large and/or high-profile/risk criminal investigations and proceedings and regulatory/civil proceedings; and
  • represent and support the organisation both internally and externally in a number of forums and proceedings, including magistrates' and crown court hearings (subject to rights of audience).

Profile

The successful candidate will be likely to have:

  • Comprehensive experience as a solicitor or barrister with a current practicing certificate in England and Wales*;
  • Comprehensive experience of providing consistent, clear, audience-tailored risk-based advice;
  • Comprehensive post-qualification experience in criminal or regulatory litigation, and knowledge of public law;
  • Extensive experience in devising and implementing a case strategy on complex contentious cases;
  • Relevant knowledge in other specialist technical disciplines, particularly fraud, financial/accounting, including forensic accounting and actuarial;
  • Extensive experience of specialist investigative techniques, such as inspections, interviewing suspects under PACE, and other evidence and information gathering tools;
  • Extensive experience of using evidence analysis and electronic disclosure systems and tools.

*The salary with this role is commensurate with a Public Sector salary for a lawyer between 3 and 10 years PQE but applications at all levels will be considered
