Litigation Lawyer Seeking a New Challenge?
Are you a litigation lawyer admitted in the UK or a similar overseas jurisdiction (for example Australia or New Zealand) and seeking a new challenge?
If you enjoy the analytical, problem solving and client contact aspects of your role, and are seeking a move away from billable targets and long hours, then this could be the role for you.
A top international law firm is seeking a litigation lawyer to join their in-house risk team. The role will be varied and interesting and you will advise the partners, associates and secretaries on risks posed to the firm, especially when looking at new clients and matters, and provide solutions to minimise that risk.
The litigation lawyer will need strong commercial acumen, being able to weigh up the risk posed to the firm against the value of the client and matter and make a judgment call. You will work with the seniors in the team to design and draft policies and procedures to ensure the firm meets all of its compliance and regulatory obligations.
The Role
Day-to-day you will review complex commercial and legal conflicts issues and provide innovative solutions to clearing them. You will also be aware of red flags for high risk clients and jurisdictions, assessing for risk of money laundering, bribery and corruption. You will also be responsible for client engagement terms, contract reviews and you will also work closely with the lawyer who specialises in data protection (GDPR) and confidentiality.
The Team
The team consists of two senior lawyers, both of whom have a litigation background, and they see how the skills transfer well into this role. Training will be provided and you will work closely with one senior in particular who will take you under her wing and show you the ropes.
The Requirements
It is anticipated you will have trained at a top tier firm and have around 3-4 PQE. You must have exceptional communication skills and be able to explain complex legal issues in a clear and easy to understand way.
