Director Compliance Strategy at a international and growing Payments Firm. The Compliance function is expanding with the ever-changing international regulatory. The Compliance Strategy and Advisory department is focused on enabling the Group to navigate the international markets. A key element of this is how we manage the risk of our consumer relationships through effective policies, advisory, and technology elements. Hence the creation of the Compliance Strategy team which manages the strategy behind our key due diligence and screening processes.


The Director Compliance Strategy is responsible for ensuring that holistic controls and policy framework is up to the task of effectively managing our AML, CTF, and AB&C risks deriving from our consumer relationships. This includes managing the whole flow of Simplified, Full, and Enhanced Due Diligence as well as guaranteeing an airtight approach to Sanctions. The Director coordinates with the Operational teams to ensure all policies and guidance are implemented. He/She will also work very closely with our Product and Technology teams to ensure our controls framework is reflected in our technology. Finally, this role will also be responsible for identifying, assessing, and integrating external vendors who can facilitate and enhance our controls framework while also improving the customer experience and enabling the business to flow smoothly.


The Director will be required to:

  • Manage a team in two locations and ensure they are effectively trained to support this area with analyses, project management, escalations management, policy reviews
  • Define and update Group policies related to Compliance
  • Work closely with our Consumer business teams and with our Operations teams to support with advice and respond to more complex queries
  • Review the holistic framework in place today and challenge the status quo with innovative ideas
  • Create and implement projects to implement fixes for major gaps and efficiency improvements working with PMO, Product, Risk, and the Business
  • Coordinate key Compliance initiatives and drive innovation in the Compliance organization
  • Define, gather and formalize Compliance requirements for system enhancements
  • Identify innovative external vendor solutions and manage projects to integrate such solutions


The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a senior role within Compliance in a Banking or consumer-focused financial services business
  • An agile mindset, able to work in a very dynamic company and sector
  • Willing to challenge senior staff and his/her manager to improve the status quo
  • Conscious of UK and EU regulatory requirements and well-versed in the application thereof
  • Highly-skilled communicator, able to present complex solutions and persuade senior management to implement
  • Analytical mind, can create analysis to support ideas an assess the impact on revenues, fraud, etc.
