Great Point Media is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to support business in our Legal and Business Affairs team on a temporary to permanent basis. Based in Covent Garden but currently working remotely, the Legal & Business Affairs Associate opportunity is suitable for a 2-4 PQE lawyer preferably with experience in the finance and/or media sector with the ability to take the lead on all aspects of legal work carried out by the team.

Your New Role

Responsibilities of the Legal & Business Affairs Associate will include:

  • Acting as lead negotiator, under supervision from senior team members, on film and television development, financing and exploitation transactions, including: drafting development agreements, drafting loan documents and related security agreements, negotiating notices of assignment with distributors, advising on underlying rights and ‘chain of title’, instructing external counsel and drafting documents in relation to film and television tax incentives in multiple jurisdictions and reviewing sales agency agreements;
  • Providing legal support for all M&A and corporate activity, including drafting and negotiating corporate agreements and ancillary documents;
  • Providing legal support in relation to product development, fund structuring and establishment;
  • Drafting and reviewing typical in-house documents, such as confidentiality agreements, service agreements and terms and conditions;
  • Researching changes to law and regulations and presenting recommendations of policy changes to senior team members; and
  • Ensuring the company’s ongoing compliance with its responsibilities under law and regulation.

Role Requirements

Applications are invited from qualified Lawyers who demonstrate:

  • 2-4 years’ PQE;
  • Experience working in the finance and/or media sector preferred (but not essential provided the candidate has other applicable experience);
  • The ability to prioritise and balance workflows in complex transactions and within a pressured environment;
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, presentation and organisational skills; and
  • Permissions to work in the UK.
