Description

Some of the responsibilities for this role are as outlined below. Our client appreciates that some candidates will not have undertaken all of the below but should have the transferable skills and desire to pick up new areas of work.

To be responsible for Commercial Contract reviews and providing general commercial support, working within the wider Commercial & Procurement team and Commercial Operations team, to business stakeholders. Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute to the function of the wider Commercial & Procurement team.

The primary responsibility is reviewing commercial contracts in relation to the clients suppliers in accordance with the supplier management risk statement and appetite; this will include reviewing, interpreting, drafting, amending and negotiating various types of commercial documents. Working collaboratively within the Commercial & Procurement team from a commercial law perspective. Supporting the business in the procurement and contract reviews process. Designing and delivering training and guidance for the wider Commercial & Procurement team and the business. Staying up to date with changes to relevant legislation, rules and regulations. Supporting and inputting into the design and production of management information. Being accountable for producing contracting management information

Profile

For this role solicitors from a private practice, in house , local authority or from a university background should apply see below for the successful candidate attributes.

Sound commercial awareness and judgement, with an ability to provide commercially focussed contractual and commercial advice proportionate to the legal, reputational and operational risks inherent in the task at hand technical drafting and negotiating skills are essential with knowledge of public procurement law, being a distinct advantage. Familiarity with IT contracts is desirable. An understanding of different contract structures including frameworks, single service agreements and supplier terms. Knowledge of data protection, freedom of information law and IT/IP will be a distinct advantage. Prior in-house experience desirable but not essential and IT and Data Protection experience are more needed than Freedom of information and IP.
