CRA Consulting have been exclusively retained by Synectics Sheffield office hire into their in house team legal team. We are looking for an experienced in house legal counsel / solicitor to join the team.

Job Purpose:
The business is looking to recruit an experienced lawyer to join the Legal and Secretarial team as the Group Legal Counsel / Group Commercial Solicitor. This role would suit both existing in-house lawyers looking to develop their careers and those in private practice looking for a first move in-house.
The overarching duty is to provide commercial legal support and advice across the entire group (domestically and internationally). The Legal Counsel / Commercial Solicitor will work across all levels of the business. For example you will regularly interact with bid teams, sales, procurement, HR, senior leadership and the board of directors.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Act as the Group's central point of contact for advising on non-employment legal matters Help negotiate and draft complex commercial contracts (for example framework agreements, SaaS agreements and licenses) Ensure robust processes are in place for reviewing and approving all Group legal agreements and comprehensive records of such are properly maintained Ensure that in all contracts and other agreements (e. NDAs) the Group's intellectual property is sufficiently protected and commercial risks are appropriately managed Act as the lead contact for the management of external legal counsel instructions Lead on the management and resolution of any litigation / disputes resolution as they arise Maintain the existing suite of 'standard form' contracts and template documents Work with the Company Secretary and Group Finance Director on other relevant areas such as real estate and insurance matters
Key personal attributes:
- Committed business partner, highly motivated to deliver pragmatic and persuasive legal advice Excellent attention to detail with the energy required to see things through to completion Highly flexible and sufficiently adaptable to handle a wide range of matters Well-developed analytical skills Strong communicator - you will liaise with people at all levels in the business through all mediums You must be able to work both autonomously and within teams in a seamless manner The chosen candidate will be expected to demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and respect for their work and for colleagues
Qualifications and experience:
- UK qualified lawyer (4 to 8 years PQE) in a commercial or corporate setting Experience working on commercial agreements of all complexities and values Strong knowledge of data privacy laws (including but not limited to GDPR), IT law and forms of construction model form contracts (eg NEC4 or JCT) would be particularly helpful Prior experience of working in the security / surveillance industry or any knowledge of the cyber-security industry and/or on the provision of cloud-based IT services would help in this role (but is not essential)
