Ready for a new challenge? Are you an experienced lawyer with excellent communication skills? Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) is looking for up to three skilled Legal Counsel, with direct experience of public-sector procurement and/or Infrastructure Planning & Property law (preferably gained from major infrastructure projects).
RWM is at a crucial and exciting stage of growth in the programme to develop a geological disposal facility (GDF). As Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel you will provide high quality, pragmatic and solution-focused legal advice to RWM staff (including senior management), which will be critical to enabling programme delivery.
You will provide legal advice in relation to:
- RWM’s strategic procurements, including in relation to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 as well as draft a wide range of agreements;
and/or
- RWM’s approach to obtaining key permits and consents within the specific policy context relating to geological disposal, covering environmental permitting, infrastructure planning and nuclear site licensing as well as acquiring the necessary land rights.
You will use your experience either of major public procurements or infrastructure programmes to provide clear and concise advice to senior staff. The ability to advise in other general areas would be ideal (e.g., state aid, employment, data protection, freedom of information, litigation, and legal challenges etc.).
Whilst in-house experience is preferred, this position would suit you whether you come from an in-house or private practice background.
