Our client, a wealth management firm in the heart of London has a vacancy for a commercial lawyer.
The role is based in the Legal department, which reports to the CFO/Board. You will be required to engage with the business across all the firms business areas and offices throughout the country.
Responsibilities include:
Providing general contract advice, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating supplier and revenue generating agreements.
Advising on data protection and security issues and working closely with the firm’s DPO and data security team.
Drafting and advising on DPIAs, DSAR responses, data processing agreements and other related data privacy clauses/documentation.
Ensuring our company transactions comply with corporate laws and regulations and managing contractual risk in line with the Group risk tolerance.
Drafting processes and procedures to enable the Group to effectively manage legal risk.
Developing appropriate templates/documentation and delivering relevant training to the business to support the Group in its management of contractual and vendor risk.
Monitoring, Identifying, and advising the company on legal developments, policy setting and provide relevant legal advisory services in a wide range of disciplines and areas throughout the Group (including Information & Technology and Data Security).
Reviewing, drafting, advising on and negotiating client terms of business and non-core investment management arrangements, such as (without limitation):
standard terms of business and related client-facing documentation as and when appropriate.
bespoke investment management, dealing and custody agreements.
business commercial disputes of a contractual nature, including instructing and liaising with external counsel, where necessary, monitoring external legal expenditure, and reporting for insurance purposes.
Providing legal and regulatory input to new product/service proposals, strategic projects other ad hoc projects to ensure that documentation is legally compliant and contains the necessary legal protection for our Group.
As you will be working within a financial services firm you will need to be familiar with and potentially advise on a variety of financial services regulatory matters (predominantly buy-side retail), private client to assist with the management of legal risk for the organisation.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
A lawyer with a good level of post qualification experience (preferably a minimum of 4 years’ post qualification experience) in the following relevant areas of legal practice:
As a private practice lawyer within a financial service, data protection or general commercial/corporate team; or
As an in-house lawyer for a financial services firm (preferably asset management) or another commercial firm; or
As a lawyer in an industry or sector whose skills are transferable to this role.
