Criminal Duty Solicitor (Supervisor)
Greater Manchester
A Duty Solicitor is wanted for an opportunity with a highly rated Manchester law firm with a solid reputation for its Criminal Law advice. Applications are invited from experienced, hard working Duty Solicitors who are motivated to deliver the highest levels of representation at all times in the Criminal Law process. Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience
The successful candidate will join a busy and successful Criminal Law department, managing a full and varied caseload that may include general and serious crime plus VHCC depending on experience. Day to day duties will include drafting briefs, taking instructions from clients, instructing counsel and providing Duty support at either Magistrates and Police Station.
As a Criminal Duty Solicitor you will undertake criminal defence work, to provide legal advice and assistance/ representation of suspects at the police station, represent defendants before magistrates court and preparation of their cases. The ideal candidate should have a duty slot and must be willing to participate in the out-of hours police station rota working evenings and weekends sometimes.
Supervisor status highly desirable.
