This highly regarded full-service London firm has an opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join the firm’s Corporate and Commercial department.
The successful candidate will work closely with one of the Partners in this department. The work involves debt capital markets with listings on AIM and AQSE, national and international joint ventures and group restructuring. The Partner, also, specialises in mergers and acquisitions. There is also a small team of Associates who will also require some support.
You will assist with running the Partner’s caseload, including having ownership over coordinating the delivery of work, and will have responsibilities and duties which will include, but will not be limited to:
Admin Duties
- Complete ad hoc requests or actions arising from meetings
- Email management and E-filing – which will include daily e-filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the firm’s procedures
- Money laundering and KYC checks, file opening and first draft retainer letters
- Bill preparation, dealing with client invoice queries and assisting with credit control
- Diary management
- Liaising with Business Services Managers
- Assisting the Executive Committee as required
Fee-earning Duties
- Ensure the Partner is properly apprised of progress on matters, including snags, risks, delays and general issues
- Initial drafts of transactional documents, contracts and correspondence
- Liaising with clients, taking instructions, keeping them updated on their matters and managing client expectations
- Undertaking legal research
- Assisting with company secretarial work as required
Qualifications: -
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
Essentials: -
- Experience of working in a legal corporate environment for a minimum of three years; including a basic knowledge of corporate decision making
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- High standard of oral and written English along with excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Experience of working with a CRM system
- Experience of working with SOS and Blueprint (desirable)
- Experience of running a caseload (desirable)
