Global Investment Bank seeking a VP Equity Derivatives Legal Counsel to play a key role in providing legal support for the Equity Derivatives business across a range of products from the fundamental to the highly structured. Advising on transactions and on regulatory change and achieving strategic priorities.

The Role

• Providing transactional support on derivatives transactions which includes advising on and drafting documentation for flow and complex structured deals

• Developing and implementing standard forms,  templates and required procedures to minimise legal risks

• Advising on regulatory change and helping implementation of regulatory change projects and programmes to enable strategic development of the business area

• You will be accountable for the management of external counsel including responsibility for legal spend

• You’ll be responsible for delivering updates on relevant legal, regulatory and governance matters to senior management and colleagues within Legal and the front office

• Acting as a strategic partner and advisor to the Equities business on the legal, regulatory and reputational impact of regulatory change and implementation

Candidate Background

• Qualified lawyer with experience of equities transactions or a derivatives background gained in either private practice or in-house

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the ISDA documentation framework and the regulatory requirements in relation to derivatives

• Experience documenting complex structured derivatives transactions and analysing the legal risks associated with these

Additional Skills

• An understanding of commercial rationale to enable  formulation and execution of strategy

• Creativity and innovative thinking to structure appropriate and sustainable solutions to transactional and regulatory challenges

• Knowledge and experience of implementing financial services regulation
