SSQ is partnering a global commercial insurance business located in the City in their search for a French speaking Assistant Company Secretary to provide company secretarial, legal and compliance support, ensuring a high standard of corporate governance throughout the business and across its various boards in France, Canada and the UK.

Applicants will ideally have completed a law degree and gained legal experience as a trainee solicitor or alternatively in a Company Secretarial or paralegal position. Business fluent French is essential. The ideal candidate will be a team-player with excellent communication skills and the skills to engage at Board level. They will be driven to learn and develop themselves professionally, think analytically and possess the ability to prioritise and balance the competing demands of senior stakeholders.

The working day will be diverse, some of the duties one can expect include:

· Company secretarial work - providing support to various Boards (France, Canada, UK) and their Committees within the Group, collating meeting papers, minute-taking, assisting in maintaining the required Secretariat records, registers and documents, including statutory records and making the necessary filings to Companies House and the FCA or equivalent regulatory bodies;

· The provision of support to the legal function on matters of company/commercial law;

· Pension Scheme work;

· Regulatory & Compliance work and supporting the French and Canadian subsidiaries with respect to their regulatory and compliance requirements;

· Extensive market networking, to obtain knowledge of market trends and be best placed to advise management and colleagues alike.
