Court of Protection
The Court of Protection team undertakes highly sensitive work on behalf of families and carers who are often facing into numerous challenges concerning individual who are unable to make decisions for themselves. The department advises on numerous matters such as:
- Deputyship applications
- Budgeting for the needs of vulnerable individuals who require care
- Welfare benefits claims
- Investment of funds
- Buying and adapting property
- Local authority issues
- Making a will
- Deputy and attorney disputes
The team often liaises with various bodies including local authorities, professional advisers, social services and other government bodies to ensure clients receive all the care and support they need.
The Ideal Candidate
Some experience of Court of Protection work would be advantageous even if it is a cursory understanding of the law and procedures which surround the Court.
Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to liaise and work with all manner of professionals and advisers as well as the clients and families themselves. This is a highly technical area of law, but also very rewarding.
