My client in central Birmingham is looking for a strong commercial contracts specialist to join their stable in house team. This position shall last for an initial 6 months, but is likely to be extended beyond this period. It is a full time position but applicants seeking a 4 day week will also be considered. If you want to join a well organised, high performing, dedicated commercial team with a clear vision to improve the local area, then we would be delighted to hear from you!
The lawyer we are seeking will join an experienced team, helping this organisation to deliver exceptional legal advice to all clients. You will have the advantage of your main clients being internal, which greatly aids the development of successful working relationships. You will be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive with a current Practising Certificate.
The IT support infrastructure available with all team staff on Windows 10, MS 365 and Teams. With lap tops and mobile phones available for all, this has allowed the legal office to adapt to working from home for all staff during the Covid-19 crisis and ensures that the team is well placed to deal with future change as the situation develops. My client is flexible in terms of hours and home working.
As an experienced commercial contracts specialist, you will have responsibility for all aspects of the contract formation and process. You must have a proven track record in negotiating and achieving best outcomes, and experience of the EU procurement regulations is essential. Daily tasks may include:
- Development agreements
- High value contracts and procurement project work
- JCT and NEC contracts
- Negotiating agreements and being robust when necessary
- Updating standard terms and conditions
- Working with external procurement specialists and other clients
- Management of the procurement process on behalf of the organisation
- Advising on contract extensions and variations to specification
This is a locum position, so applicants must be available to start at short notice.
