A local authority based in South West England are seeking a Planning and Highways Lawyer to cover a period of maternity leave. The role will start in April and will run until the end of September 2021.

The successful Planning Lawyer will be required to pick up a full and substantial caseload from the outset. You will be required to undertake the following:

  • Advise on a broad range of planning legal work including compulsory purchase orders, public rights of way, highways matters, town and village greens.
  • Negotiate and draft planning agreements, planning enforcements.
  • Attend committee and inquiries.
  • Act as the legal advisor to the Development Control Committees.

Previous local government experience is highly advantageous. Candidate must have a practising certificate, have covered all the areas listed and be available to start on no more than two weeks’ notice.
