About the role

This is a great opportunity to join Armstrong Teasdale during an exciting growth phase of its London office. Working closely with Partners, and national and international clients, this role requires someone with excellent technical knowledge and skills, and significant experience across a broad range of matters.

This is a varied and rewarding role which will see you involved in work including as required in the usual conduct of contested litigation, including prosecuting the case to trial or final hearing, negotiating settlement, working with clients, witnesses and, where appropriate, funders.

The role involves managing all aspects of client relationships, as well as supporting the career progression of junior colleagues.

Building on previous experience in business development, the role requires on-going contributions to the department and Firm’s activities.

This role will suit a solicitor looking for the next challenge in their career.  We offer a good work-life balance, although flexibility will be required during the busier times.

About you

You will be results-drive, pro-active and consistently meet targets and deadlines.  You will have high levels of motivation, as well as demonstrable ability to work in and across teams.

You will have a confident and professional manner, be results-driven and able to exercise a high degree of self-management along with the ability to prioritise.

You will be able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation, as well as the ability to work in and across teams.

Accuracy and attention to details are essential, as are strong communication and negotiation skills.

You will have:

  • A current England & Wales practising certificate, or entitlement to obtain one
  • At least 10 years’ recent UK PQE at a recognised commercial law firm
  • A degree (preferably in law) having achieved a minimum 2:1
  • Demonstrable ability to work with clients’ key decision makers
  • Hands-on experience working on capital markets and AIM transactions
  • Demonstrable client relationship and business development experience
  • Experienced in document management systems
  • Intermediate Word and Outlook, basic Excel and PowerPoint skills (preferably Office 365) along with PDF skills
  • Excellent verbal and written (including spelling) communication skills; English at native speaker standard

Arbitration experience would be advantageous, as would additional language skills and/or legal qualifications.
