Family Solicitor, 2/5 PQE, West London, £40,000 to £50,000 (DOE) plus a comprehensive list of benefits. The family team covers a range of privately funded work representing clients on all aspects of divorce, financial remedy, private children’s issues, cohabitee disputes and pre-and post-nuptial agreements. The team also has a significant amount of contentious probate and education law work. THE ROLE:
This role is to provide assistance and support to the Children Team. At an operational level this role will be about working as a solicitor supporting the current team managing the smooth running of their caseloads. The successful solicitor will be expected to run their own caseload and also assist the more senior members of the team with their caseloads adopting a team approach.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Provide a high-quality legal service to clients of the firm to include processing new and existing instructions covering all aspects of predominantly private law children work. Contribute to the operations of the team by: managing personal billing and administration processes in line with team procedures; taking responsibility for delegating work to the paralegal(s) where appropriate; providing support for others in the team where appropriate; and working on ad hoc projects as and when required. Develop your own personal reputation and team/firm reputation for providing a top-quality specialist service by joining in on BD initiatives, supporting team/group events, article writing, joining relevant associations and seeking out positions of responsibility to support your personal and team ambitions. Develop your organisational and interpersonal skills so that: work is prioritised and progressed; you demonstrate a balance of working on your own initiative and seeking advice or guidance; your supervisor is aware of your workload and specific issues which arise on your matters and you maintain a flexible and proactive approach to work.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
A solicitor with experience in family law work, specifically dealing with Children Act proceedings (c3 years’ PQE indicative). Hold accreditation or working towards either the Law Society Children Panel or Resolution Specialist Accreditation in a relevant area. Experience of conducting own advocacy in the Family Court would be helpful. History of sound personal billing. Good technical grounding and a passion for this practice area. Flexible with the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining the highest quality standards and attention to detail. IT literate and self-sufficient in using document management systems, MS Office and the internet as a business tool. Outstanding opportunity.
