JOB DESCRIPTION:
The team’s work includes all areas of rural life and business. They act for owners of country houses, land owners managing estates and for rural businesses. The firm advise on the sale, purchase, leasing and mortgaging of property, but in particular farms, estates and rural land. The team give advise on a range of issues from ownership, occupation and management to development and agreements with utility companies. Clients include significant rural land owners such as the National trust as well as private owners and occupiers. The firm comprises of a non-contentious rural property team. You will work closely with the rural property team and the dispute resolution lawyers as well as lawyers in the planning unit. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor with experience of commercial property matters to acquire knowledge of agricultural property leases. Detailed knowledge of agricultural property law is not required as training will be provided. You will undertake fee earning work, working both independently and as a member of the agricultural property team. Maintain existing relations with the firm’s clients and assist and help develop new relationships with third party referees. To work closely with the non-contentious rural property team and the dispute resolution lawyers on joint projects and to participate in the growth and future development of the firm. You will have a strong academic background, experience in commercial property, with a particular focus on landlord and tenant matters and in particular, negotiating and drafting leases. Excellent client facing skills, the ability to prioritise work and to work to strict timescales where required, along with technical proficiency and good IT skills.
